We proceeded the protest by departing towards lower Manhattan. We received 75 dollars as donations from supporters. Blessings were given on behalf of the walkers by a few monks.
We than took the ferry to Staten Island. There we were fortunate enough to be invited and given free tea and chocolate at a local cafe. The owner Katie
McCarthy, a freedom and peace supporter, saw us walking and inquired what exactly we were doing. She was very kind and generous her cafe is called "Book Cafe", located at 208 Bay St, Tomkinsville, Staten Island, NYC NY 10301. Her site is www.etgstores.com/bookcafe/. Her cafe is definately worth checking out. Thanks again Katie.
Next we continues are walk down Hylan Blvd, finally stopping for the day at Forest st/ Hylan Blvd. We than drove over to our accomodations for the night which was located at the Unitaria Church of Staten Island. We were given a great warm church to sleep in and the first day finished smooth. We would like to thank the people who made this possible.
